GE Profile Opal 2.0 with 0.75 Gallon Tank, Chewable Crunchable Countertop Nugget Ice Maker, Scoop Included

I don’t know exactly whether to rate this a two or three. This is an expensive option for pebble ice. However, I got it on a sale (still overpriced). I got it after Trying out my parents’ Opal. They originally had trouble with receiving a damaged machine and after lots of calling and waiting, they received another.The ice is really good. I love the texture and the crunch that is easy on your teeth. I love the side tank so you don’t need to fill it as much.The problem is after you’ve had it just over the warranty goes out, it tells you to add water when it has plenty of water. This usually happens more after cleaning. My parents had that happen and they eventually got a cheaper machine and got rid of the Opal. They actually started getting black residue in the Opal machine.Now my machine is telling me I need to add water. I have followed the cleaning schedule and maintained it well.With the amount I paid, even with the sale, I’d expect it to last longer.While I love the ice, I’m disappointed and would not purchase again.

The ice produced is great, but it's a pain to clean and maintain.Fully draining it requires unplugging it and moving to the sink. I put it on a shelf with an outlet behind it, treating it as a semi-permanent fixture, but that was a mistake. Trying to fully clean it in place isn't possible because the tubes attached to the back get build up of residue, and possibly bacteria colonies. If you have a kid that sticks their hand in, like mine, anything on it will continue to recirculate in the melt and grow. Mine developed gelatinous clumps.Because of the tube between the reservoir and ice maker, you have to take it apart to fully clean it. I ran multiple cleaning cycles, but it didn't clear the gunk in the tube in back.In addition to the cleaning challenges, when the water is low, it will occasionally suck in air and the pump will temporarily fail after you full it. It needs to be primed to get the water running again, which can require putting your hand in the cold reservoir and potentially exacerbating the bacteria build up problem.

The downside to this us it takes all day to make ice, very slow

I wanted to love this machine and did for a short time. This is an honest review not a paid one.It makes nugget ice like it says and it’s amazing. We followed directions and only used bottled water as we have hard water in Fl.It began to leak and leak, the base started to corrode even while nothing was around it.It just stopped working and all the water was all over and when we opened it it was so disgusting and full of mold. No mater how it told us how to clean it this was the inside.Did I get a bad machine? Don’t know, but I’m outside the window to return it or exchange it to state otherwise. Sadly the review is honest and I don’t recommend being it didn’t even last 1.5 years.These pictures are after we cleaned the mess of all the machines mess on my counter.

Had for almost 2 years is stuck in defrost mode and leaking water all over did everything that YouTube said to do before I emailed GE where I was told to send multiple things and then waited to get a response that basically said we know it’s frustrating but we won’t send a replacement and try this which is everything I did before I reached out so I didn’t have to waste mine and their time if I could fix it on my own so then I called the First Lady hung up on me the second claimed she couldn't see my photos and video I sent so I asked to speak to a manager and was told she was a supervisor so i asked to speak to someone else and was told she couldn’t transfer me to call back and hung up on me by the 3rd lady she left me on hold for over 25 mins to tell me that what I was reading was a generated email by yahoo and that they won’t honor a replacement and that I was luck y I got 2 years out of it when something that I paid almost 600$ for only has a 15 month life span way to go GE all I wanted was a replacement even was willing to just get a refurbished one didn’t have to be new and to send this one back now that I think of it they prob don’t have a replacement bc they break and don’t honor anything and to top it off they closed my email due to not responding!! Never again!!!
